I have been obsessed with Jefferey Campbell’s Lita Shoes for over a year now and it is not going away! I had fun styling them with a summer twist. Check it out:
I’m wearing Jefferey Campbell Lita Shoes, Floral and Lace skirt from K-Mart (yup!), wide belt from Urban Outfitters, Zebra tank.
Remember the sample sale I accidentally walked into and ended up dropping £80 at, accidentally? I’ve been wearing the Lola Cruz wedges I bought there non-stop. They are exceptionally comfortable for being footwear that adds at least 3.5 inches of height to you. Here’s a photo of the shoes in action.
During lunch yesterday, I was innocently taking a stroll in the neighbourhood where my my office is, unbeknownst to the danger that lurked around the corner. What was so daunting, you might ask? A sample sale! A SHOE sample sale!
I walked past the tiny door of the small shop slash PR office of Ash shoes and Lola Cruz. I kind of stopped in my tracks and did a sharp left turn straight into the shop, just to browse. Browsing turned into some serious shopping when I found £135 sandals for £50! The staff (just two cute little ladies) were very helpful and dug around in the back to find the right sizes for me. It wasn’t crowded so I was able to spread out and try on all the shoes I wanted. Overall, the second sample sale success I’ve had in London. Err, my bank account and I are in trouble.
Here are some photos of the sale. Scroll to the bottom to see photos of the shoes I bought.
My loot! They look so so on their own, but I hope to style them up so they look unique. Did I mention how comfortable these shoes are yet?
Ash studded leather trainers, originally £110. I paid £40.
Most of my friends who wear Vans are girls even though you’d think the brand is more popular with guys. When I think of Vans, the first thing that comes to mind is skater, California and boys. To be perfectly honest though I know more girls who wear Vans everyday on their way to work or with floral dresses in the summer than boys. So when I got the chance to preview the Vans shoes and apparel lineup for Spring/Summer as well as Fall/Winter 2011, I was excited! Here are my favorite pieces from the line:
I’m kind of obsessed with these wide strap wedge sandals from Gap. When I saw them on a mannequin in the store window the other day, I had to do a double take and usually my Gap-double-takes are reserved only for the male models in their posters. These sandals look comfortable and very on-trend with Spring’s wedges that can be seen at any and every store right now.
At $89.50, I guess I can’t go wrong by picking myself up a pair! Get your own pair here.
I got a pair of Wingtip Oxford shoes last year that I absolutely love! Having a relaxed and girly style, I could only think of a couple of “safe” ways to wear them however. I found some great ideas on how to wear Oxfords on a contest that Hypeed online mag held and wanted to show share some of my new found inspiration.
I have mixed feelings about over the knee boots. When they inch up to your thighs, it can look a little risqué but with the right balance of outerwear on top it can work. To carry off the tall/thigh high boot look, follow three simple rules.
1. Don’t draw attention to the rest of your outfit and let the boots be the only eye-catching piece of the ensemble.
2. Wear a cropped jacket or a basic pea coat to off-set the risqué factor of over-the-knee boots.
3. Try a color other than black when buying over-the-knee boots so that people wont associate them with trashy ones.
Blake Lively’s Gossip Girl character Serena van der Woodsen shows off these killer boots by Tania Spinelli.
Platform shoes really came back in style during the Spring about two years ago. Last year it was all about the platform tall boots. This year platform ankle boots and pumps are all the rage. Sky high platform shoes are acceptable to wear to work and no longer have a stigma attached to them. I found this pair of platform pumps on Piperlime.com, which look identical to a pair by Pour La Victoire, but for less than half the price. After seeing them on numerous websites and the great video by Zappo’s below, I was sold! My Kelsi Dagger Linzy platform pumps arrived yesterday and I can’t wait to wear them, like everyday!
I got the opportunity to meet Rebecca Minkoff at an event held a Bloomingdales on November 6th and all I could think of was what can I wear to meet a fashion designer? Not only was Rebecca to be there but also stylist Mia Morgan and a slew of fashionable editors from FashionIndie.com so you can see why I would be nervous about my outfit. After mentally going over every item in my wardrobe and nearly driving myself crazy, I decided to keep it simple and go with something I was comfortable in rather than worrying about being trendy. I chose my favorite Silence + Noise skirt, black tights since I practically live in them during the Fall/Winter, a comfy blue plaid shirt and my new Lita shoes by Jeffrey Campbell to add a bit of edge to my comfy ensemble. In the end, I felt relaxed, confident and very much me and was able to present my best self to Rebecca Minkoff!
I’m wearing a blue plaid shirt from Uniqlo, Silence + Noise Skirt from Urban Outfitters and Lita Shoes by Jeffrey Campbell.
