What is Cubicle Chic?

Cubicle Chic is a fashion blog for young professionals who look to dress for the corporate world with a touch of creativity and flair, while also being wallet-friendly.  It promotes originality and resourcefulness not only for dressing in the workplace, but for weekend adventures as well.

MEREDITH:

Fall is finally here! We spent all September staring longingly at our pants and sweaters, and now we can actually pull them out of our closets and wear them. Thankfully, it’s still not too chilly, so I opted for my sleeveless wrap top to wear with my new wide leg jeans on a recent outing in the city. It’s one of my favorite Etsy finds and is able to be worn both casually and dressed up. I’m pretty sure that because the top is split in two at the waist by both the wrap tie and the change in color, people get a little confused, but that just makes the shirt all the more interesting. As for the pants, the wide leg trend is taking the blogging world by storm, and I’m happy to join in the fun! I’ve always been a fan, and this is an especially intriguing Earnest Sewn pair that I recently thrifted on a trip to Maine. They are very wide, very long, and very high-waisted. I’m not quite ready to divulge exactly how far they go up my torso, but maybe, as fall continues, secrets will be revealed…

Meredith’s Look:
Top: Etsy, $25
Jeans: Ernest Sewn, $25 (thrifted)
Bag: Coach, $1 (thrifted)

LINDSAY:

I was so excited when Ritu asked us to collaborate, my mind started reeling the moment we digested her email. What to wear? Because Cubicle Chic is a blog about what to wear to the office, I don’t often get the chance to show off my favorite casual garb. This look is something I’d wear to a party because of the combination of dark colors and silver. It’s playful, but also evokes a nighttime feel. In a way, it’s also a remix: the black turtleneck is a piece I wear to the office regularly. I’ve always loved wearing anything with a little shine. In high school it was glitter, in college, shimmer, and now it’s sequins and metallics. One question that always crosses my mind when I’m wearing something shiny or sparkly is: is this too much? It’s incredibly easy to overdo it, so you want to make sure that the other pieces you’re wearing complement the shine.

Lindsay’s Look:
Shirt: Banana Republic, $45
Skirt: $35
Tights: Betsey Johnson, $2 (sample sale)
Shoes: Forever 21, $26
Jacket: H&M, $25
