(London) I’m posting this at the risk of this blog seemingly turning it into a big Style Bubble fan club but my excitement just cannot be contained. Farfetch.com, one of my favorite online shopping sites since I moved to London that I had gushed about before, came together with footwear studio SIX London and some of my most admired bloggers in the world to create an exclusive special edition shoe collection called SIXby6Bloggers.
(New York)Hot Mess has been on my radar for months and I’m happy to finally be able to feature it on our brand new video section. Hot Mess is a show or web-series made by women and featuring women, chronicling all the laughable drama that is part of normal for us like broken zippers at inopportune moments or language barriers and inter-racial issues in Spanish Harlem (I lived there for 2.5 years during my stint in NYC).
Have a look through the episodes and you might find something you can relate to as well!
(London) I’ve been glued to Susie Lau’s Style Bubble ever since I moved to London a few months ago. Her blog is global and covers fashion from around the world and all the big fashion weeks but has a very British tone and loads of London content as well. She is quirky, stylish, unique and above all a good, opinionated writer. Watch her Blufly closet confessions to get a peek into her jet setting life.
Closetista TV brings us another jewelry designer that we are truly excited about: Aminimal Studio. Creative brainchild of Svetlana Blum Briscella and John Briscella (who are both as gorgeous as their beautiful jewelry, if I may add) show off their Field Test Collection on Closetista TV. Watch the video below to get the full overview of the collection that was inspired by the structures found in magnetic fields and created with printed Nylon!
(Toronto) Continuing with our video feature every Friday, we are pleased to bring you a promotional video of Toronto Fashion Week that will be held from October 17-21, 2011. We will be bringing you news and behind the scenes photos and info from the biggest Fashion event of the Great North, so stay tuned!
I could watch this J’Adore Dior ad over and over and over again! Using digital magic, Dior has brought past icons to life such as Grace Kelly, Marlene Dietrich, Marilyn Monroe and more to accompany Charlize Theron in this ad for the ever popular J’Adore fragrance. Can you identify all the old celebrities in the video?
The Stylester is launching a BRAND NEW VIDEO CHANNEL and who better to inaugurate it than Closetista.com? Closetista is an online fashion TV network featuring independent and emerging brands which we have kept a close eye on for over a year.
This video highlights the Closetista designer contest called Style GONE Social: Accessories with 8 amazing designers competing. Check out Candid Art’s entry:

Karen Harvey, an entrepreneurial minded go-getter, along with Fashion Group International hosted a panel on entrepreneuship featuring some young emerging leaders in the fashion industry. To cover new media, there were the founders Jennifer Hyman and Jenny Fleiss from RenttheRunway.com, to go over traditional retail, with a twist of course, there were the founders of Opening Ceremony Carol Lim and Humberto Leon and to represent youth there were the super fresh designers and founders of Vena Cava, Sophie Buhai and Lisa Mayock. Karen created this amazing video to summarize the spirit of the panel and provide an introduction that I wanted to share:
Inspiration was abound during the discussion. As an impressionable, hungry, young professional, I was particularly susceptible to the inpirational messages Karen urged and drew out of the panelists. Messages such as strive to blend courage with learning and keep things fresh by taking on projects you know nothing about yet, that’s new and will require courage. In return you will learn and stay engaged on what you are doing. The encouragement to go with your gut, especially if you have an knot in your stomach about it. Use your naiveté as an advantage and bring that fresh faced energy and enthusiasm into seemingly unrealistic goals. Be courageous and take the leap.
The Panelists and Karen Harvey.
Being in the same room and being given the chance to have a conversation with such young talent who have executed on their creativity was truly a treat. I was being inspired just from sheer osmosis. After speaking with Lisa from Vena Cava, I saw that we weren’t so different after all. She is young, just like me. She is ambitious and creative, just like me. She blogs, just like me and she gets knots in her stomach about big ideas and projects, just like me. Being a fashion house, ready to take on the haute world and rock the retail sphere like Vena Cava is not my ambition, but if Lisa and Sophie could actualize their dream, with a little more osmosis, so can I.
