(Toronto) Happy Friday everyone! Just to end the week with a little bit of nostalgia, I’d like to share a video of my hometown by Ruzannadiscovered via 1loveto.com. I’ve got Adele’s Hometown Glory playing in the background and feeling a bit homesick but the weekend is a’starting and I’ll be just fine. Enjoy the video!
(Toronto)1 LOVE T.O is probably the best Toronto blog and I have been a reader for a couple of years now. With a great logo and above all, great content, it takes pride in the city and shows it off blatantly. To extend the love, they have created this cool T-Shirt that is popping up everywhere. Jonathan below stood out especially in his tee so I’m extending some love here as well.
(Toronto) One of the biggest Canadian retail brands to go international and successfully so is undoubtedly Aldo. The brand makes fashionable footwear at reasonable prices, offering the best trends of the season as well as good old staples which keeps customers going back. Growing up in Canada, I’ve been shopping there since my early teen years. Back then, it was the only option for shoes for me and yes, I’ve graduated to designer labels and eccentric styles like my beloved Jeffrey Campbell Lita’s but I still visit Aldo frequently.
Increasing my love for the brand, Aldo has teamed up with some of the top Canadian bloggers on Lookbook.nu - Ivy Xu from Vancouver, Bobby Raffin from Toronto and Breanne S. from Winnipeg.
(Toronto) Canada’s best curated fashion retailer, Aritzia, just unveiled their Winter lookbook. This image especially popped out at me as the denim shirt is an ode to the Canadian Tuxedo.
Aritizia is now also in SoHo NYC. Check out the Winter lookbook here.
(Toronto) Continuing with our video feature every Friday, we are pleased to bring you a promotional video of Toronto Fashion Week that will be held from October 17-21, 2011. We will be bringing you news and behind the scenes photos and info from the biggest Fashion event of the Great North, so stay tuned!
(Toronto) On one of my recent trips to my hometown of Toronto, I visit Jacob, a Canadian brand comparable to Ann Taylor Loft in the US. They have recently launched a beauty line and introduced a trio of lip glosses in their stores. I had to pick one up right away out of curiosity and the $10 price tag was even more incentive. Here’s my review of Jacob Care Lip Gloss in the Donna shade.
The first thing you’ll notice about Jacob Care Lip Gloss is that is it tastes deliciously fruity. The shades available are Bella – a soft pink, Donna – a light coral and Cita – a vibrant raspberry.

The consistency is thick but not too sticky. The gloss goes on in between sheer and opaque with the right amount of coverage to change the color of your lips, even on dark complexions. There is no plumping action but I found it made my lips look fuller. Below are swatches and samples of the lip gloss in the Bella shade.
I received some awesome CARGO makeup in the gift bag at Grace Sun‘s SS2011 collection presentation in October. CARGO is a Canadian cosmetics company, headquartered in my hometown of Toronto that has a large fan base around the world. I’ve seen CARGO products at Sephora many times but never tried it for some reason but after testing out the gift bag goodies, I’m wondering why not. CARGO’s TexasLash mascara is made it stay put! We know that everything is big is Texas and this mascara will definitely Texas-ify your lashes. Mine seemed to have tripled in length and thickness after one coat. Don’t believe me? See for yourself after the jump!
I first noticed the Canada Goose jackets in a tiny and exclusive boutique in SOHO, and it immediately caught my eye because of the distinctly Canadian logo and the most luxurious fur trim on the jacket hood I’ve seen this season. Then I started seeing it on a couple of guys around New York City – you know, the kind of guys that stand in line to buy limited edition sneakers for hours and spend $500+ on selvage jeans without even blinking and I knew this was going to be a hot trend this winter. When I went home to Toronto, Canada just before the holidays and saw them everywhere! Celebrities like Drake have already been spotted in Canada Goose and I have a feeling that it’s a matter of weeks till Kanye West is spotted in them too.
Canada Goose Jackets for Women
The hottest Canada Goose jacket model this season is the Kensington Parka. It is literally sold out everywhere in Canada (trust me, I’ve searched). With the record breaking, bone chilling cold we’ve had in New York City this winter, done leave the house without yours!
