Initial Gift Card Necklace

Posted on 14 March 2011 by Ritu

I swung by Urban Outfitters over the weekend and saw this cute little necklace that instantly caught my eye.

I’d been looking for a skinny gold chain necklace for a while and this cute little block letter pendant was love at first sight and I snapped it up right away. Currently sold out on UrbanOutfitters.com, you can try visiting the actual stores to find one with your initials. As of the past weekend, the stores are stocked with plenty!

Spring Accessory Alert – Sobral Pop-art Jewelery

Posted on 11 March 2011 by Ritu

The best way to transition from a Fall/Winter wardrobe into Spring is by integrating bright colorful accessories. I swung by the Sobral boutique in SoHo last night and found about fifty great Spring pieces that are sure to make a statement. Brazilian designer Carlos Sobral is famous for his artful jewelery made from resin in an eco-conscious workshop. Here are couple of my favorite pieces from his collections that are so perfect for Spring.

Sobral Art Deco Carre ring

Art Deco Carre ring – $48.

Sobral Large Pop Art square bangle

Pop Art square bangle – $65.

Retroz Darning ring Sobral

Retroz Darning ring – $48.

Sobral Pop Art bangle bracelet

Pop Art bangle bracelet – $50.

Sobral Queen Necklace in Copper – $160.

The Queen Necklace is unique because it has real computer chips ingrained under the resin. With this, you’re not only making a fashion statement but an eco statement too.

Best Swimsuits and Bikinis for Winter Vacations

Posted on 07 January 2011 by Ritu

I’m off on a two week long vacation to Asia tonight and am trying to get myself in the right state of mind for it. Packing for a vacation is often the best way to psych yourself up for the upcoming trip, along with reading up on your destination (I should add Lonely Planet to my list of favorite books) and stalking friends’ Facebook albums from those destinations will also do the trick. I wont necessarily be wearing swimsuits where I am going, but looking up the best swimsuits and bikinis for this season totally made me excited. Here are my top picks of the best swimsuits of Spring 2011 that would be perfect for your Winter getaway to a sunny beach somewhere down south.

Beach Bunny “Hello Hello Pretty” Bikini

Beach Bunny is on the mid-high range of bikinis and can go from classy to trashy fast, but this bikini is absolutely what the name suggests. Pretty!

The Perfect Platform Pumps – Linzy by Kelsi Dagger

Posted on 14 December 2010 by Ritu

Platform shoes really came back in style during the Spring about two years ago. Last year it was all about the platform tall boots. This year platform ankle boots and pumps are all the rage. Sky high platform shoes are acceptable to wear to work and no longer have a stigma attached to them. I found this pair of platform pumps on Piperlime.com, which look identical to a pair by Pour La Victoire, but for less than half the price. After seeing them on numerous websites and the great video by Zappo’s below, I was sold! My Kelsi Dagger Linzy platform pumps arrived yesterday and I can’t wait to wear them, like everyday!

Zigi NY Blacklabel Leather Studded Cuff

Posted on 10 November 2010 by Ritu

I have been a HUGE fan of Zigi NY shoes for years! If you need proof, just check out my declarations of love to the brand here and here. The Spring/Summer 2011 collection by Zigi was previewed at Ace Hotel in New York City yesterday and I got a special treat of checking it out in person. The fabulous press reps for the brand generously gave me a parting gift from Zigi’s newest venture, Ziginy Blacklabel, which is at the highest end of the label’s offerings. I received a bracelet/leather studded cuff from the new line of accessories Zigi is launching, which I have to admit is pretty rockstar and I’m loving it. The rest of the accessories collection is definitely noteworthy. Keep an eye out for my distillation of the whole new collection and in the mean time, check out this lovely studded cuff.

Rebecca Minkoff Holiday 2010 Event at Bloomingdales

Posted on 07 November 2010 by Ritu

Rebecca Minkoff held a “meet and style” event at Bloomingdales in NYC on November 6th to showcase her Holiday 2010 collection of chic handbags, purses, clutches and accessories. Minkoff, with celebrity stylist Mia Morgan and a team of editors/stylists from FashionIndie.com were on site to style shoppers and Rebecca’s fans and explain what is new and noteworthy from the designer. At the event, I witnessed a girl buy a purse just to have Rebecca autograph the lining! I’m sure she wasn’t the only one, but it was cool to see. Shoppers could also have their purchases monogrammed by artist Logan Real who was on site with his paint brushes and special leather ready paints to turn your Rebecca Minkoff purse into a true one of kind accessory. Rebecca, apart from being beautiful and extremely elegant, was the nicest, sweetest designer I’ve ever had the honor to meet. She personally took me around and explained the collection to me from her favorite pieces to the inspiration behind them.

Rebecca Minkoff with Ritu from the Stylester

The Holiday collection is made up of small giftable bags that can be perfect stocking stuffers if you really like to splurge on that or great holiday presents for any fashionable woman. I love Rebecca Minkoff’s bags because they can be very rockstar and work-ready at the same time, so one of her bags would be a great gift idea for your girlfriend, mom or niece. My favorite item was the Monogram Duo Leather Pouch and Bracelet Cuff because it adds a touch of thoughtfulness to a gift. I also loved the crossbody bags, especially this bronze one which is one her most popular items. Among other gift ideas that I loved were her crossbody convertible clutches like this one and the studded leather crossbody bag which has a strap that was inspired by a guitar strap. This bag is perfect for musicians or music fans (can also be read as John Mayer fans like myself). The Best Fendi Belts from the SS2011 Collection

Posted on 28 October 2010 by Ritu

When it comes to accessories, Fendi is one of those Italian fashion houses that can keep up with French mega brands like Chloe and Chanel. This season, Fendi got a lot of buzz for the billowy pants and blouses and primary colors that were seen during the Spring shows. The clothes were elegant as always but what really caught my eye were the gorgeous colorful obi belts that accessorized the clothes. Here are the boldest and brightest belts to come down the runway and how they were paired with the collection.

My New Lita Shoes

Posted on 27 October 2010 by Ritu

If you’ve been to TheStylester.com in the last few weeks, you already know how obsessed I am with Jefferey Campbell’s Lita shoes. They are equal parts retro glam and rocker chic and an instant cult classic. Top bloggers like Rumi Neely and Vanessa Hong have been wearing and raving about them so I knew I just had to get myself a pair. They were selling out of the boots in black on all the top online shopping sites so when I found a pair in my size at Nastygal.com, I snapped them up as fast as I could! When they were delivered to my office, my colleagues were baffled by them and wondering why I was nearly jumping up and down with joy. Here’s are some photos of the newest prized possession in my closet.

How to Wear Lace up Booties in the Fall

Posted on 13 October 2010 by Ritu

“Like” TheStylester on Facebook.

As  I had mentioned in a previous post, Spring shoes recently debuted in the USA and threw a party at their store for some NYC bloggers last month. I picked up this gorgeous pair of lace up booties from Spring called McEntyre in taupe that I love! I got compliments on them from strangers while walking around the East Village, which is totally validating, and after walking in them the whole night, I have to admit, they are quite comfortable despite the mid-heel. They look great with black or grey tights and super skinny pants. I wore them with cable knit woolly socks which also looked cool. Here is how I styled them for a dressed down weekend look.

Spring shoes Mcentyre booties 1I’m wearing McEntyre boots by Spring, cable-knit knee high socks scrunched down by Aldo, skirt by H&M, loose tank by ADAM and cardigan by Rachel Roy.

Jeffrey Campbell Lita Shoes

Posted on 12 October 2010 by Ritu

The one shoe that has been seen on most elite fashion blog sites, hands down is Jeffrey Campbell‘s Lita shoe. At first, I thought it looked too 60s and wasn’t sure how I felt about them, but after seeing how striking it looks on some of these bloggers, I’m a converted fan. It retails for $145 plus tax and shipping and handling and can be found at select online retailers like Karmaloop and DNA Footwear. I am seriously considering buying a pair if I can track it down in black. That color seems to be sold out everywhere! If that’s not a sign that it’s hot, then I don’t know what is… no matter what you say about how retro they look.

More images of the shoe and top bloggers seen in Jeffrey Campbell’s Lita shoe.
