Aldo teams up with Top Canadian Bloggers on Lookbook.nu

Posted on 21 December 2011 by Ritu

(Toronto) One of the biggest Canadian retail brands to go international and successfully so is undoubtedly Aldo. The brand makes fashionable footwear at reasonable prices, offering the best trends of the season as well as good old staples which keeps customers going back. Growing up in Canada, I’ve been shopping there since my early teen years. Back then, it was the only option for shoes for me and yes, I’ve graduated to designer labels and eccentric styles like my beloved Jeffrey Campbell Lita’s but I still visit Aldo frequently.

Increasing my love for the brand, Aldo has teamed up with some of the top Canadian bloggers on Lookbook.nu - Ivy Xu from Vancouver, Bobby Raffin from Toronto and Breanne S. from Winnipeg.

Here are their photos from the collaboration:

Winter Trend – Russian Fur Hats

Posted on 20 December 2011 by Ritu

(London) I’ve been spotting two major trends on the streets of London this winter. The first is the Russian Fur hat and the second is pleated chiffon below-the-knee skirts. The fur hats are available year round and year over year at flea markets and vintage shops but their popularity sky-rocketed this winter. I’ve seen girls wearing them over biker jackets, capes, trench coats, shearling and the hat complements each and every outerwear type.

If you are wondering how to wear Russian fur hats, just let your hair down and throw on the hat. It will steal all the attention anyway so you don’t have to worry about much else. Wear it casually or in a formal setting because this season, it goes anywhere and everywhere.

Where to buy yourself one of these furry accessories? You can pick up faux fur Russian hats at Asos.com for £15 or head to your closest vintage store or flea market and hunt for clean real fur hat which will cost between £20-£30.

Isy, who is becoming quite popular in our Streetstyle section, was spotted in a fox fur Russian hat near Oxford Circus in London.

Introducing DVF Luggage

Posted on 04 November 2011 by Ritu

(London) If you’ve been reading this blog lately, you know that I have recently moved to London from NYC. One of the reasons is so that I could travel all of Europe! I used to think I travelled in style when I was university and carried my fake coach duffel bag everywhere but I have graduated now, from university as well as from fakes. If I could afford it, I’d love to indulge in this new line of luggage by DVF. Check out this cute animated video, narrated by Queen (or is it dutchess?) Diane Von Fürstenberg.

Fall Shopping Feature: Farfetch.com

Posted on 25 August 2011 by Ritu

After moving to the UK, I’ve been on the hunt for a go-to shopping website that can live up my favorites from NYC like Nasty Gal, Piperlime and Rachel Roy and I have finally found them! For affordable and seasonal trends, Asos.com is my favorite and Piperlime’s competitor for me is Farfetch.com.

In the words of the company, farfetch.com forms the hub of a global fashion community that unites independent boutiques around the world with fashion lovers. Farfetch.com takes the high end boutique shopping experience online in a less confusing way than other online shopping sites and the careful curating of styles and trends is obvious.

As I mentioned, most of the stuff I love on the site is high end, meaning I need to start saving for something now for a great Winter 2011 buy from their great selection of jackets and designer handbags. If I could pick my ideal Fall/Autumn outfit from the site however, you’d see me in the outfit below!

My dream Fall outfit comprises of MAISON MARTIN MARGIELA Jacket, Alexander McQueen De Manta Clutch, ANN DEMEULEMEESTER Identity Bracelet, Givency Flat Boot, PIERRE-LOUIS MASCIA Scarf aka LOVE!!!, Barbara Bui Bracelet, Goti necklace and a YSL necklace to polish it off.

Socks that Rock

Posted on 24 April 2011 by Ritu

One of the quickest ways to update your footwear for a new season, especially for the Fall, is by adding unique socks to the mix. Socks can make a pair of sandals look like boots or really make it’s sandal-iness stand out.

A little lace or net peeping out from above your ankles can be a sexy touch but don’t get fooled by the lace. The look carries a lot more edge that you may think and you are bound to get some double-takes for sure.

Liz Cherkasova of http://popcultureafternoon.blogspot.com rocking the look.

Some very well styled ladies from Lookbook.ny and Chictopia show us how to show off their socks instead of hiding them.

I got a pair of sparkly silver/charcoaly pair of socks courtesy of K. Bell that I love to use to add some drama into my outfits. You must be thinking, silver/charcoal with sparkles?? Really? Yes, really, and the fact that they are so unusual is what makes them special. Check out the full range of K. Bell socks here including the pair that I have which can be found here.

So roll on your fancy stockings, slip into your Litas and rock on!

Gap Wooden Wedge Obsession

Posted on 02 April 2011 by Ritu

I’m kind of obsessed with these wide strap wedge sandals from Gap. When I saw them on a mannequin in the store window the other day, I had to do a double take and usually my Gap-double-takes are reserved only for the male models in their posters. These sandals look comfortable and very on-trend with Spring’s wedges that can be seen at any and every store right now.

At $89.50, I guess I can’t go wrong by picking myself up a pair! Get your own pair here.
