The one trend that was all over the red carpet at the Emmy’s on Sunday was the dress with a train. The stars carried this off gorgeously and the always flattering style is rarely a train wreck (pun intended). Here are some of the stars that rode the train (dress) the best.

While fighting with my overgrown bangs while trying to blow out my hair over the weekend, I got frustrated and did the unthinkable – I trimmed by own bangs. I’ve never done that before because it’s scary and not necessarily the smartest idea in the world. I managed not to wreck my hair entirely with the bangs turning out to look nice enough, although I kept asking myself, are bangs still in?
Kim Kardashian heard my question and mid-week revealed her new hair do with big and bold bangs. I love the look and glad that the trend is still around.

If you want to try out how bangs will look on you (like I did before getting mine), take advantage of this amazing virtual makeover tool on DailyGlow.com.

I am counting the days till Gossip Girl returns to television and am glued to my computer hunting down on set fashion until then. I found this great photo on the blog Elite Gossip Girl Style Files of Chase Crawford and Katie Cassidy on set filming season 4.
Chase looks more stunning than usual in this fitted slate colored suit compared to the hoodies and rugby shirts he wears on the show. I can’t even begin to talk about how much I love Katie Cassidy’s dress here! She looks stunning in a Bibhu Mohapatra dress, with the sexy but sleek slit that is visible only from the side.

Bibhu Mohapatra joins the wave of designers from South Asian heritage who are sweeping the fashion scene like Nepal’s Prabal Gurung, India’sNaeem Khan and the half-Bengali Rachel Roy.

Fashion Week is approaching and I am getting super excited! Yes, it has the aura of being an uber exclusive invite only affair, but Fashions Night Out gives any and all fashionistas the chance to experience it and get a taste of the designers & boutiques without being a fashion editor like Anna Wintour or one of her poor assistants (a la Devil Wears Prada).
What is Fashions Night Out?
In simple terms it is an evening during Fashion Week in which retailers and some designers that may not have showcased in an actual fashion show and some that have host an event for the general public. Among the things you can expect to find is free flowing champagne, A-list celebrity appearances and if you are lucky enough, some great giveaways.
Do’s & Don’ts:
- Don’t be fooled by my ‘open to the public’ statement and definitely do show up 30-45 mins ahead of time for the bigger events.
- What to wear to FNO:
- Don’t dress like you are going to a club.
- Do wear an outfit that is trendy and hip.
- Don’t wear uncomfortable shoes if you plan on party hopping.
- Do wear your best accessories like layered chains and your best bag.
- Don’t overdo your makeup.
- Do put in the time to get flawless skin and try a bold lip.
Here is evidence of some craziness that went on during Fashions Night Out last year and based on this, I am definitely not going to miss it this time either!

Miami Fashion Week is a totally different affair compared the New York Fashion Week with beach parties and sand instead of hotel parties and snow. Its fitting that Miami is the best place for designers to showcase their swimwear collections. The monokini, which was hugely popular this summer was seen on the runway as well as tattoo art bikinis from Ed Hardy and lacy lingerie style bikinis from Beach Bunny. My favorite designer from Miami Fashion Week this year was definitely Mara Hoffman and her monokini below is the winner of my favorite swimsuit from the show.

Madonna released a preview of her brand new line called Material Girl last month but the covergirl’s face was not revealed. Some had speculated that it would be her daughter Lourdes, but the preview hinted strongly towards a tall skinny long blond haired girl instead who I had guessed is Taylor Momsen. I was right! Here she presents herself as the face of the Material Girl Collection:

I went to beautiful wedding this summer held in the Hudson Valley just north of New York City. Up until a day before the wedding, I had no idea of what to wear. After rummaging in my closet, I put together the perfect outfit last minute and you can too with the following items from yours:
1. An old bridesmaids dress. Just make sure it is not the same color as the wedding theme or the actual bridesmaids dresses. I wore an older version of this J. Crew dress.
2. A bejeweled bib necklace. I wore this J. Crew necklace.
3. Simple light colored peep-toe heels or strappy sandals.
The end result was a chic, clean and classic look that is perfect for the summer.

Whenever I’m home for holidays or birthdays, I find my tween sister glued to the computer playing either dress up games or Webkinz. Sadly but truly I have found myself revisiting those sites even after she has left the computer room and finally granted me find minutes on the computer. I must admit that there is a certain addictive quality to each game and even the idea of combining the two is enough to scare me with it’s potential of becoming web-crack.
Well, my scary thoughts materialized when Fabsugar released a game that lets you play dress up as well as shop in a virtual world. Fabsugar & Shopstyle’s Retail Therapy game is like a dangerous drug because you’ll be hooked after the very first time. The game lets you run your own store (something a lot of women like me played make believe at the age of eight), order inventory, decorate, make friends and then compete with those friends to see whose the best virtual shopkeeper of all! With an easy to find leaderboard, you’ve now got the additional competitive addiction as foursquare. It’s no surprise that such a mashup would result in an unbelievably addictive game.

With endorsements from advertisers like DVF, Topshop, Barney’s, Banana Republic and Gap, who are also integrated into the game, the fantasy has a reality twist to it that makes it OK for adults to play it. At least, that’s my excuse.
I’m off to immerse myself in more Retail Therapy and dare you to join me. I’m ready to bet a hundred virtual dollars that you will get hooked too.
Play Retail Therapy with me here.
