Remedy for Dark Circles Under Your Eyes – The Socializer by Elizabeth Grant

Posted on 30 August 2010 by Ritu

Dark under eye circles are something that affects a lot of women, 53% of all women to be exact, according to a study done by Clinique in 2006 (cited in NYTimes.com). More than half of the world’s women have to deal with dark circles and bags under their eyes which are caused primarily by genetics and can be made worse through lifestyle choices like staying up late and eating salty food that make your body retain water. Whatever the reason might be, dark circles are not fun and I’m constantly looking for makeup and products to that will make them go away or be less visible.

After years of searching, I did find the perfect concealer from Make Up Forever, but still feel the need to improve my under eye regimen. Enter Elizabeth Grant’s The Socializer.

Kim Kardashian is Bringing Bangs Back Again

Posted on 27 August 2010 by Ritu

While fighting with my overgrown bangs while trying to blow out my hair over the weekend, I got frustrated and did the unthinkable – I trimmed by own bangs. I’ve never done that before because it’s scary and not necessarily the smartest idea in the world. I managed not to wreck my hair entirely with the bangs turning out to look nice enough, although I kept asking myself, are bangs still in?

Kim Kardashian heard my question and mid-week revealed her new hair do with big and bold bangs. I love the look and glad that the trend is still around.

If you want to try out how bangs will look on you (like I did before getting mine), take advantage of this amazing virtual makeover tool on DailyGlow.com.

L’Oréal Studio Secrets Professional Magic Perfecting Base Review

Posted on 23 August 2010 by Ritu

While getting ready for a big night out with my girlfriends last weekend, I asked “Does anyone have primer?” and they responded “What’s that?”. I was surprised by their reaction since I thought that everyone who uses foundation or powder also uses makeup primer but I guess my assumption was wrong.

The fact is that most women don’t use primers or even know much about them. Urban Decay’s Eyeshadow Primer Potion changed the game when it came to primers for your eyelids but what about the rest of the face? There is nothing worse than your foundation rubbing off or melting off on some parts of your face and on the flip side, there is nothing better than it staying put perfectly throughout the whole day or a whole night of partying. To ensure that, primer is a must!

The L’Oréal Studio Secrets Professional Magic Perfecting Base primer is easily available at any drugstore and is a great one to try out for the first time if you are new to primers.

Grey is Fall’s Nail Polish Color of 2010

Posted on 17 August 2010 by Ritu

Summer is winding down and the slightly cooler mornings and changing window displays in all the clothing stores reminds us that Fall is just around the corner. When it comes to fashion and style, I’m not a fan of starting to dress for the next season while the current is not yet over but in terms of picking a color for a manicure, I’ll make an exception.

Grey was one of the popular colors last Fall and beige or tan is a staple color for autumn anyway. I was delighted to see these two colors combined to create Fall’s bigger nail color trend of  “greige” (grey+beige).

Greige was seen on Lady Gaga’s nails on the cover of this month’s Vanity Fair as well as on Sienna Miller and Scarlett Johansson in the tabloids, making it Fall’s top trend.

Jessica Simpson’s New Fragrance – Fancy Nights

Posted on 13 July 2010 by Ritu

Jessica Simpson may not have known the difference between tuna and chicken in the past but that didn’t stop her from launching an uber successful shoe line (I’m a fan) and fashion line. Her reality TV career is still going strong with a starring role in the VH1 show Price of Beauty, her personal life seems to be doing well too with a hot and heavy relationship with Eric Johnson and she has managed to keep her natural curvy figure on the ‘average woman’ size without too much scrutiny from the press. Kudos for strengthening the image of real beauty Jessica!

To top it all off with a touch of sweetness, JSimps just released her new fragrance called Fancy Nights. Being the all-American woman, with her big southern smile, long blond hair and old-Hollywood curves, this fragrance is all about classic old-school style. It definitely is fanc-ay!

Paris Hilton’s New Fragrance: Tease

Posted on 07 July 2010 by Ritu

Paris Hilton may be popular for her infamous socialite ways but something that she doesn’t get enough credit for is being the woman behind some very successful fragrances. In 2004, she released the Paris Hilton fragrance which was a surprise hit and sold millions of bottles all around the world. Since then, she has released a new fragrance every year including Just Me for women and men, Heiress, Heir, Can Can, Fairy Dust and Siren.

Hilton’s 2010 release, called Tease, is in my opinion her best fragrance yet. The inspiration behind Tease is iconic blondes and Hollywood icons from the Golden Era (which instantly reminded me of Marilyn Monroe) mixed with a little signature Paris. It is meant be flirty, sexy and alluring but mischievous. The perfumier promises that this fragrance will “give women permission when they wear (it) to tease their man with all that flirting allows.”

Dove Body Mist Revive

Posted on 29 June 2010 by Ritu

If you have passed by the deodorant section of the drugstores recently, you must have noticed the tiny spritzer bottles alongside the deodorant sticks. So far, I’ve seen mists from Secret and Dove and have tested out the Dove one.

I’m the girl that owns four bottles of perfume and about a dozen sticks of deodorants and antiperspirants (including some men’s deodorants as well!) so I was eager to try Dove’s Body Mist in the Revive scent.

Revive is scented with pomegranate and lemon verbana and promises to deliver a crisp and awakening experience and deliver a bit of moisturization that is a trademark of Dove. I found the scent to be refreshing but didn’t exactly benefit from the moisture since I used it more as an on-the-go spritz during the day and sprayed it all over while I was dressed.

Caprice Shampoos by Palmolive

Posted on 28 June 2010 by Ritu

AdAge.com announced today that Palmolive (one half of the Colgate-Palmolive family) will be introducing a new shampoo and conditioner to the US market called Caprice. With a huge brand following in the Mexican market, and Caprice products already available in select drugstores across the country, this may be the next big new product in haircare to hit the shelves. I’ll be keeping my eyes peeled for it to put it to the test against my other favorite drugstore shampoos like Sunsilk, Pantene and Head and Shoulders.

Experience the sexy Natori fragrance at Bloomingdales

Posted on 07 May 2010 by Ritu

The first time I experience the Natori fragrance, it came off very strong and I wasn’t sure how I felt about it, but as the day went on into the night, somehow the perfume transformed into a very sexy and powerful fragrance. Those qualities translated to my mood and Natori became the best accessory of the night.

If you happen to be in Manhattan today, I definitely recommend stopping by Bloomingdales on Lexington and 59th street between 4pm-6pm to experience it for yourself. The designer Josie Natori will be on site to give background on the creation of this sexy fragrance and sign purchased bottles.

What: Natori Fragrance Event at Bloomingdales
When: 4pm-6pm, Friday, May 7th, 2010
Where: Bloomingdales,  Lexington and 59th street

Diane Kruger – The New Face of Calvin Klein Beauty

Posted on 04 May 2010 by Ritu

Diane Kruger has been announced as the new face of Calvin Klein for the newest fragrance Calvin Klein Beauty. Lately, we have seen many gorgeous stars opting to be spokeswomen for designer perfumes rather than launching their own fragrances like Nicole Kidman for Chanel and Kate Moss for YSL. Diane Kruger joins their rank as one the enchantresses who will mystify you with her signature CK fragrance.
