Jessica Simpson may not have known the difference between tuna and chicken in the past but that didn’t stop her from launching an uber successful shoe line (I’m a fan) and fashion line. Her reality TV career is still going strong with a starring role in the VH1 show Price of Beauty, her personal life seems to be doing well too with a hot and heavy relationship with Eric Johnson and she has managed to keep her natural curvy figure on the ‘average woman’ size without too much scrutiny from the press. Kudos for strengthening the image of real beauty Jessica!
To top it all off with a touch of sweetness, JSimps just released her new fragrance called Fancy Nights. Being the all-American woman, with her big southern smile, long blond hair and old-Hollywood curves, this fragrance is all about classic old-school style. It definitely is fanc-ay!
The scent is almost too rich and extremely sweet. It’s the kind of fragrance I imagine my mom wearing in the 70s and early 80s wearing to a formal event when she wanted to be extra elegant. The image doesn’t exactly go with what I think of Jessica Simpson but then again, she is a southern girl and probably attended some débutante ball or another and this fragrance has over-the-top-opulence written all over it.
The top notes of the Fancy Nights fragrance, which is the third in the Fancy series, are very rich – think Bergamot and strong Egyptian Papyrus scents that are very heavy and sweet. In the heart of the fragrance, you’ll get exotic whiffs of Indonesian Patchouli and Bulgarian Red Rose which reminds me slightly of YSL’s Opium. As the fragrance warms and evolves on the skin it releases a spicy, sparkling aroma of Vanilla, Sandalwood, Amber and Oak Moss. The end effect is a sugary, romantic and mature fragrance that will transport you to a Fancy Night from another romantic era.
I would pair this with any vintage item or vintage inspired outfit or wear it to a very formal occasion where you want the scent to add that extra bit of personality to your outfit and overall look because it will definitely stand out.
Fancy Nights is available in a 3.4 oz. Eau de Parfum Spray for $59, a 1.7 oz. bottle for $49 and a 6 oz. Body Lotion for $30.
