More Gossip Girl Stalking

Posted on 09 October 2008 by Ritu

After staying very late at work last night, as I walked out onto the cold cobble stoned streets of DUMBO, I was very pleasantly surprised to see the the Gossip Girl crew was still filming in the neighbourhood. They were filming inside Foragers Market on Front St. The windows were covered in a white film with very bright lights shining on them from the outside, and upon asking the technical crew, we found out that this was done in order to make it look like it was day time inside the store.

I was not going to miss another photo-op on set of Gossip Girl, so I ran up and had my pic taken in front of Foragers. See the evidence of my stalkerazzi below:

Gossip Girls Filming in DUMBO, Brooklyn

Posted on 08 October 2008 by Ritu

OMG… I’m freaking out cuz Gossip Girls is filming right outside my office today! I’ve already made one stalker run around the block and after schmoozing the lighting and electricians, we were able to find the location of the shoot. Here’s the evidence so far, and keep an eye on my Twitter for more updates.

LifeBooker Review & My Fave new NYC Salon

Posted on 07 October 2008 by Ritu

You know the pesky little ads that bother you on Facebook while you are trying to stalk people? Well, I actually clicked through to one of them – the Lifebooker.com one.  I was a little iffy about it at first, but when I saw that I could get a $99 haircut for $66, and could book the appointment just one day ahead, I was sold. Haha, and I also just found out that Lifebooker is head-quartered at 45 Main St. in DUMBO, Brooklyn – the SAME building that I work in! It’s clearly a sign of a lifelong relationship in the making… we have soo much in common.

my coat on the fancy coat hanger at Michael Angelo's

The salon I picked was Michael Angelo’s Wonderland… I know what you are thinking… would you really trust your hair in someone’s hand who works at a place called “Wonderland”? I had similar doubts too, but the location and pics convinced me to try it. Located in the super trendy Meat-Packing District of NYC, and with almost 20 foot ceilings, the venue itself is worth the trip. For example, the coat hook was a mold of a hand holding the hanger with a finger! See the photo:

If you go, surrender yourself to Gabriel – Hair Magician Extrodinaire. He’s a genius and telepathic! he knew exactly what I wanted when I didn’t even know! He’s gentle and delicate and will never pull your hair or burn you with the blow dryer. The rest of the staff were fab too.

Since then, I’ve become their fan on Facebook, and constant visitor of Lifebooker.com. Can’t wait for my next appointment with Gabriel!

A Weekend Away in Canada

Posted on 05 October 2008 by Ritu

I went back home to Toronto, Canada over the weekend. The very first reaction I had to going away was separation anxiety from the city, and the second was the same kind of anxiety but for a boy. I didn’t think it would get there, but here I am… a bit too dependant on a city and a boy.

Anyway, the weekend was good, despite the frigid cold weather of the Great White North, and the 9 hours of driving each way. I got to see my 7 year old sister again, and this time with 2 less teeth than the last time I saw her 2 months ago. They grow up so fast!

Fall Nail Color Trend – Purple Nails

Posted on 05 October 2008 by Ritu

It is officially Fall in NYC today. The temperature is at 50°F, the wind is blowing wildly and the sky is overly overcast. Needless to say, this affects one’s mood, and wardrobe – so this morning I dressed myself pretty much entirely in brown, wore lots of leather and a frown as I left home for work.

Since I was scheduled for a manicure, and my mood was close to black, I stepped out of my comfort zone of pink and nude shades to an almost black purple. I picked O.P.I.s Siberian Nights shade from their Russian collection and the results are awesome! It looks so ‘of the moment’. As we all know and have been blasted at from every single magazine on the newsstand that purple is IT color this season, there is no reason it needs to stop at your clothes. Purple nails might actually be a quick and easy way to add the IT color to your wardrobe if you aren’t ready to go full out yet.

Try out different shade on against on skin tone virtually on the OPI website: http://www.opi.com/opi/opistudio.aspx
