On Saturday night, on an eventful girls night out in the Meat Packing district in NYC, I met Robert Buckley!!! You might not recognize his real name, but does Kirby from Lipstick Jungle ring a bell? How about his photo?

Robert Buckley aka Kirby Atwood aka Hunk
This is how it all went down…
So, as we (the girls and I) were walking into the club Tenjune, I saw him walk out towards to bathroom, and I pretty much FREAKED out! I was slightly tipsy at this point so my freak out was a little more than normal. After my friends, which includes Jen, another huge Lipstick Jungle fan, calmed me down, I proceeded to try and act normal. At the club, we were dancing right next to him and his 2 other friends. As the night went on, and I got tipsy-er and ‘braver’, I impulsively turned around as said to him: “You look familiar!” and he goes “Oh my god! Highschool?”.
Yes, it was slightly smug and cocky, but it was also slightly stupid of me to just talk to him at a club while he was just trying to hang out. He was actually quite civil, spoke to me, introduced himself as Rob, and even his friend who happened to be named Bob. Then they both politely cheersed (?… toasted?) me which was a clear sign that they wanted to be left alone.
Well, thanks ROB for being nice and gracing me with your presence! I’m a little embarrassed now about talking to him, but I blame it on being starstruck.

Fall is here, it’s getting cold and crispy, and my great summer curls are going very very flat. What else could be bad… hmm… I can’t find any clothes that I like (or afford) this season and I now have a big pile of summer clothes that are useless now. It’s hard to think of outfits to wear in the Fall in New York City to begin with, and my little crisis isn’t helping.
BUT, inspired by my White Here, White Now post, I’m putting together the following items from my wardrobe to this little look. I am a little nervous to wear it to work, for the whole no whites in the fall rule, but lets see what happens.
The outfit:

Sooo inspired by Tokyo Star Girl, one of WordPress’ recommended bloggers under How To, I was compelled to spread the word. She wrote about breaking the “Don’t wear whites in the fall or winter” rule. As long as it looks good, why not!
Ok, I agree with the fashion police that head to toe in white isn’t a great idea in the fall, but white pants, jackets, and even shoes should be completely ok to wear even in the fall (obviously not all together but as the main parts of an outfit).
The fail-safe combo is mixing white with BROWN for the fall. Here are so examples of how this can be done right, in my opinion:

Me at Fashion Week!
If you’ve read any of my posts this month, for example, when I was flustered about what to wear (read it here) and after I found out that I would be attending the Venexiana show (read it here), then you know how excited I was to go to my first ever Fashion Week in New York City!
Here’s me interviewing myself about my experience:
My friend and fellow blogger who has a very popular fashion & beauty blog had signed up on the official Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week site with her blog, which gets her “press access” to the event. That however doesn’t get you in to the shows. The individual designers will go through the press list and select a handful that they want to invite to their shows to get coverage. So I was sort of her plus one…
All the people there were very stylish, from camera men & women, to assistants and the ushers too. There were a few girls who clearly went to get blow-outs and maybe even made-up at the salons for the show, and you could immediately tell that they are not in the industry.
The show itself was fabulous! ALTHOUGH I didn’t even get to see it in person! They had hit capacity within 3 minutes and more than half the line wasn’t allowed entry. From what I caught of the show on the live-feed screens outside, it was beautiful. On the bright side, I was able to sneak into the Salon after the show to snap some quick photos of the runway.

Through the wonderful world of Twitter, I discovered the newest love of my life: the rock band Bury the Bully.
I was randomly “followed” on Twitter by the grace of the band’s marketing and word of mouth efforts, and what a pleasant surprise! I went on their website just because I saw that they are a Canadian band from a town close to my hometown of beautiful Toronto, and I am a very very loyal Canadian, as everyone who knows me will tell you. After being directed to their Myspace page and listening to the first song on the playlist, I was instantly addicted.

Friday Sept 12th in NYC was a rainy gloomy day, the kind of day that makes me want to curl up on the couch, order Indian food and watch Bollywood movies all night, despite the fact that it was a Saturday night.
Upon checking with my roommate whether she had any Hindi movies at home, I was sadly informed that she didn’t. But, she ended up inviting me out to get a drink with her friends at Diablo Royale in the West Village (Near Shridan Sq right outside of Christopher st. subway stop on the 1,2,3 line).
I’d been to Diablo once before with her, and absolutely loved it! They have the best cocktails in the city hands down! The Mojito Margarita there is my favorite (although that’s the only drink I’ve tried there, nothing else could possibly be better!)
I eagerly agreed to join her, but once I got there, the party was moving on and en route to Down the Hatch – a really divey NYU hangout, also frequented by afterwork constuction workers and older professionals in search for “good old days” memories. (at West 4th and Bleecker st.)
Hadn’t been for the great company of Alicia and Friends, and two pretty good pints of Cherry Wheat beer, the scattered chicken wing bones and smelly bathroom of Down The Hatch might not have been as pleasant as it was.

As you read in my previous blogpost “My First New York Fashion Week Show!” I am going to a fashion show tomorrow. And with that, the age old question… What do I wear?
My excuse for going really overboard is that it’s Friday and I can justify by over-the-top outfit to the excuse that I’ll be going out to a club or lounge afterward.
So here is the dress that I want to wear:

The Dress that I want to wear
But the problems with it are -
- It’s just tooo shiny!
- It’s like wearing aluminum foil – in terms of shinyness and hotness (as in gross sweaty hotness) and it’s just way too hot and humid in NYC today to brave it.
Why I should wear it:
- It’s the most stylish, risque and expensive dress I own
- Who knows when I’ll get to go to Fashion week again, so why not?
SO, I guess I just might wear it. But we all know that Fashion is vicious and I will plenty of dirty looks and snickers if I look like I’m trying too hard.
Oh, the stress…

I am going to the Kati Stern Venexiana Fashion Show at the Salon in Bryant Park for New York Fashion Week tomorrow! Woohoo! Ok, here’s my secret confession – I’ve been obsessed with being able to go to this ever since I moved to New York over a year ago! And now I get to go because of a super cool friend with insider connections. YAY!
Looking forward to taking TONS of pictures and blogging about it on Saturday!
