Yellow is the new White this Summer
I’ve been noticing a lot of my stylish friends sporting yellow this summer – you know who you are ladies. Below are the reasons why YOU need to get something yellow immediately before the summer is over!
- Yellow looks great on dark skin, medium olive toned skin, tanned skin and sometimes even on really pale skin. It’s a very versatile color.
- White is over-rated and over-done! Everyone is in white dresses or skirts, so why not be different?
- Coffee stains hide more easily on yellow than on white.
- Yellow is a flattering colour. It brings out tans and a warms up dark complexions.
- If a lotta yellow is too bold for you, test it out with baby steps, with the following:
- pale/pastel yellow, and not banana yellow
- yellow accessories, like a head band or a yellow clutch
- mustard yellow for a darker shade, and this will also carry over easily into fall when worn with brown.
If you just search yellow on Polyvore.com, you’ll find numerous amazing outfits in all the different shades of yellow to inspire you if I haven’t already.

How to dress appropriately for work:
1st rule - don’t dress badly! (that’s a superficial rule, feel free to bend on it)
2nd rule – Judge by what others are wearing. It is easier to wait till someone else wears a short skirt or tank top before sporting it yourself. The heat isn’t on you and you wont be the first one to be judged, and as soon as someone else breaks the ice, don’t be afraid to jump in right away and wear the tank top of fancy beater you’ve been dying to wear more this summer.
On the other hand, if you want to be the trail blazer, take baby steps. Wear the beater under a cardi, take the cardi off from time to time during the day, if you get strange looks during those intervals, ur office isn’t ready for it yet. Also, if you have a frank relationship with someone at work, just ask them frankly. “Is my skirt too short?” ask a guy who you are friends with or the receptionist because she knows exactly how everyone is dressed that day and also knows what or who people are talking about.
Take a tip from Victoria Beckham. She makes that mini skirt look so sophisticated! Click on the photo for a How To on rocking the mini-skirt without looking slutty.
Stay tuned for more! to be published by End of Week.

I discovered M.I.A. (www.miauk.com) about 3 years ago, from an independent/alternative artist feature on Much Music in Canada, and have loved her ever since. She’s very non-mainstream, but at the same time, people have called her the “Hannah Montana” for hipsters.
For someone like me, with more than enough exposure to South Asian music, I think I get a bit more out of her music. At first, I didn’t like her pro-Tamil Tigers imagery and lyrics, but now I don’t care much. I enjoy the music for what it is.
So, last Friday, June 6th 2008, I went to her concert in the McCarren Pool in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. It was a great concert! Her energy isn’t as high as other performers, but I loved it! It took a little while to pick up, but she had people get up on stage to dance, and of course I ran up, almost losing both my shoes in the process. Anyway, I made it up there, danced beside her! It was amazing! (She’s very pretty up-close btw.)
